Lions News · Vermette, Tulik & Housey Running to States

On Saturday, November 9th, Kendyl Vermette and Sofia Tulik finished 6th and 7th at the @MIAA033 WMass Division 1 Cross Country Championship at Northfield Mountain. Vermette finsihed in 20:31.20 and Tulik’s time of 20:34.55 qualified them for the November 16th MIAA State Championship race at Gardner Municipal Golf Course.  The Lions runners had an outstanding day as they finished 4th overall among a field of 16 teams. Katelyn Fernandes was the third Lion to cross the finsh line placing 34th, Alora Bertini 38th, Kylie Gauvin 45th Gabby Walczak 66th and Brianna Charow 70th out of a 108 runners.
On the boys side sophomore Darius Housey led the way for the Lions finishing in 12th place with a time of 17:36.26 on the tough Northfield course. Darius will join Kendal and Sofia at next Saturday’s State Championship meet. Senior Brian Beem closed out his cross country career with a time of 18:46.95 good enough for 33rd place. The Lions as a team finshed 11th in WMass.
