Lions News · 2020 Year in Review

This year in Ludlow Athletics can be described in many ways: unprecedented, record-breaking, remarkable, heart wrenching, and ultimately, hopeful. Ludlow Athletics saw disappointment with the cancellation of its spring sports due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, a pandemic that has and continues to affect every Lions program and student-athletes. Despite the cancellation of the spring season Lion Athletics in 2019-20 featured tremendous team and individual accomplishments both on and off the field, court, pool and links. Below is a celebration of what we as an athletic community accomplished in 2019-20.

Participation

439 athletes participated in athletics (spring athletes were counted)

418 high school athletes (49% of HS students participated in athletics)

68 Triple Threat Athletes (athletes who played 3 sports)

21 Middle school athletes participated in the sports of JV Ice Hockey, Wrestling, Swimming, Boys Tennis and JV softball (grades 7 & 8)

9 coaches were hired to fill vacant positions.  We welcome their knowledge and enthusiasm to teach our student-athletes the skills and fundamentals necessary for success on and off the athletic surfaces.

Thank you to everyone who has, and continues to support Lion Athletics. As we strive for even greater things in the future, we could not do it without your support! I will always remember this year as one of continued academic successes, of incredible perseverance of our student-athletes, of amazing and generosity from our supporters, and of a renewed hope for the future. I am so incredibly proud of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and supporters for what was accomplished this year and what will be accomplished in the years to come
