Ludlow High School Athletics Announces Appointment of

Corey Lomas as Varsity Swim Coach for the Winter 2020-21 Season

Ludlow—

The Ludlow High School Athletic Department is excited to announce the appointment of Mr. Corey Lomas as the new head varsity swim coach.  Coach Corey Lomas has over 14 years of coaching experience. He began his career conducting private “adaptive aquatics” lessons where he worked with children with autism. He continued coaching in New York during college where he became Head Coach of a Park and Rec program, The Rosendale Rapids, as he attended SUNY New Paltz(swimming all 4 years there). When returning home from college with a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Design and Painting, he volunteer coached for Minnechaug Regional High School and discovered his profound love for coaching that sparked his new career path. He assistant coached Minnechaug Regional High School for the last 7 years and also was the head coach of their diving program from 2017-2019.

In 2016, while working for a local kitchen cabinet design company, Coach Corey started PVAA Swimming to help train high school athletes out of season. This program took off and is now 100+ swimmers and 8 coaches strong. Coach Corey won the 2018-19 USA Swimming New England Coach of the Year Award while at the helm of this program. He left his design job in 2017 and is now a full-time coach.
Beyond that, Coach Corey has been an active swimmer for the past 25 years and continues to compete in the USA League every year. He strives to show athletes the value of swimming as an avenue for getting better after everything in life.
