The Ludlow girls’ JV basketball team rode big second and third quarters to easily defeat Monson by a score of 29-7 at home Monday night. Smothering defense and good work on the boards held the visitors scoreless in the first quarter, and the Lion offense finally began to click in the second quarter, resulting to a 14-2 halftime lead. The onslaught continued after the half, as the home team won the third 12-4 on their way to a comfortable fourth and a win.
Hannah Nilson had a stellar night, contributing multiple steals, blocks, and rebounds to go with her four points. Dani Smith dropped a game-high eight points with some impressive post moves, and Sara Costa went 3-for-4 from the free throw line on her way to five points, both in just two quarters of work. Overall it was a great team win for the Lions!
The girls will look to add to their three-game winning streak later this week with away games at Palmer on Thursday and at East Longmeadow on Friday.
