The Ludlow girls’ JV volleyball team beat Renaissance 2-0 at home Monday night to get back on track and move to 7-6 on the season. The Lions won the first set 25-17, controlled a rocky second 25-11, and then ran away with the third set 15-6.
After losses in four of their last five matches, Ludlow showed renewed focus from the start, with Emmy Godek reeling off six straight service points to put the Lions on top early. She would finish the night with 12 aces on her way to 20 service points. Bub Purdy also had a strong night serving, notching six aces and 11 points. Aliyah Leary did her part with a positive night on defense, and Marissa Balbino had a nice night all around, adding four assists, one ace, and one kill.
The girls will be on the road Wednesday night at Sci Tech and Friday night at Sabis before returning home to face Belchertown next Monday.
